Oh-Casa

Oh-CASA is a round house with an oasis. The inner courtyard is open to the sky. It consists of flowers, trees and a fountain of water. The sound of this inner world is transmitted throughout the house. As the light travels through this courtyard, sunlight gets into the rooms that are oriented to the north (the views). In addition, the oasis serves as natural cooling system.

Two massive curved earth walls are defining the spaces. This very old and traditional technique in Portugal will also be used to renovate the existing rammed earth wall house. The project furthermore demonstrate a reinterpretation of the azulejos, the traditional portuguese tiles.
